Hospital corners

Mindful, yet timeless
The ocean and stars
Wash my sheets clean
Unkempt,
but for reasons fallen small.
Pristine,
They radiate pale moonlight.
The shape of them still tell
Of a sensual moment evident
But with fading memory found.
I stand, wondering
This imprint, this fossil -
Does memory derive relevance,
Or are my sheets in need of tucking?

And realize

I'm staring into a middle distance
Dumbfounded
As that absence of emotion recedes
Tide washed over with so much gore.
The strain of those days wore on me
That clumsy, obdurate skin
Forces retention of my body and spirit.
I was a knight - caught in the motions of a pawn.
And to awake
To awake and realize:
The dreams in which sleepers lie, are lies when the dreams die.

Me, incomplete. - unfinished

Morning will come when I'm not ready.
It has this way of sneaking up -
And when I'm not ready
Is precisely
The right time. The right time for the wrong moment. Oh, menagerie. Oh, pox of fervency. Fever of passivity.
But my Tuesdays are longer than my Mondays now - serendipity.
And that "is".
and "is" is good in this moment.

Ovum - unfinished

Grass grows over the grave -
The as the long line ends,
Others begin.
This is why spring fights for bud and blossom
Blood and bosom
And your earth cracks and splinters
Shoots fighting for light
under the pavement.

These nights, they are alive
As these ancient watch-fires burn overhead
We are told "be slow - unyielding"
We burn for a reason, and our time only.
This, the dust from which we are made
Burns like the wheel
Marking a path in the dirt of generations
a thousand times over.

These waves, an undulating metronome
Hissing out a song across distance
as the whales across miles of open ocean
It's progress -  a message in the movement
Calling us back and forth
Along  the thread of  experience.
The sea remembers nothing, and it forgives;
Yet, even the most obtuse and temeritous are forced
Toward unseen pattern in that presence.

The most important stories are
Sometimes those so easily accessible -
Those supposedly mundane paths
Obfuscate an elemental knowledge.
I am small and in awe against the
subtle rendering drawn by the unseen hand.

Work in progress

These windows are sooty
Light enters so carefully
And I don't remain
To restore the view
It's pupils shot to pinholes
The building's gone cold

Shaddock

Gray from across the scene
Gazes caught mingling amongst
chiminea smoke and alcohol
Chance seen, and choices made
Diana - alabaster and bronze
Sidles up - up - up
upon red velour
The dance settles -
down upon the floor.

Tonight finds the Shadddock unseen,
Unheard, and yet somehow,
Understood. These words finds Diana
Upon a different pace, forging along-
To another place.

There is no respite in the Lotus,
No call pure enough for her to heed
No glint of love in the diamond,
No place for this seed.

I am - unfinished

I am the howling night
I am the music that has been stolen from me.
I am the garden thriving in the dim
I am that frightened verve of adrenaline
I am not impotent, as the monster outside of reason
I am very much monster and very much reasonable
I am rage against the dying of the light
I am the blaze, the fire that cleanses infamy.
I am the rule, and measure all against my brow

Red Rover - unfinished

It's warm in the dark
Burning like an iron hand
We're gasoline to flame
And we carried heat
from the daylight
Or was I just full
of myself and alcohol?

Red rover, red rover
You've got to rally up
And take it on instinct
Realize:
This night runs long
'til you want it to be
Over again

You're better than you know
And I'm more than acceptable
But when the morning arrives
It brings half-eaten glances
And so many misunderstood
fallen feelings etched in stone
And served cold
I won't suffer you,
nor will I hazard the time.

Red rover, red rover
You've got to rally up
And take it on instinct
Realize:
This night runs long
'til you want it to be
Over again

This night doesn't have to end
Red rover, Red Rover
This night doesn't have to end
Red rover, Red Rover
This night doesn't have to end
So much left unsaid.
